  "HC Criança" Project
Abecitrus supports the "HC Criança" (Hospital for Children) Project, the construction of a highly specialized hospital for children and teenagers that will be built within the complex of the Hospital das Clínicas (General Hospital) and Medical College of the University of São Paulo, in the Ribeirão Preto campus (SP). The project is assisted by "ambassadors", i.e., companies and institutions that support the initiative and are committed to find new partners, as well as to transmit the idea to other organizations. Abecitrus is one of the ambassadors of the project and is engaged in mobilizing the orange juice industry to supply the management tools that the venture requires.

The importance for Abecitrus of supporting the project resides in the fact that the hospital will receive young patients from the whole region in which the orange juice industries are located, therefore taking care of the children of their employees and of citrus producers. The "HC Criança" will receive patients from Ribeirão Preto, Araraquara, Barretos, São João da Boa Vista, Franca, and other near-by cities, where approximately four million people reside. Patients from other states will also be referred to the Hospital das Clínicas (General Hospital) and Medical College of the University of São Paulo, Ribeirão Preto campus (SP), and children will be referred to the "HC Criança".

The "HC Criança" project was launched in August 2005, together with a campaign to raise funds and obtain the required resources to build the hospital. The federal government already participates with the allocation of funds in the amount of R$3 million, which is being used to start the works. It is expected that the hospital will be ready in five years.
