  GRAPEFRUIT AND YOUR HEART'S HEALTH

Grapefruit combines the form of a large orange and the yellow color of a lemon, although there are green varieties, of a color similar to the skin of limes.

The color of its pulp varies from yellow to orange and to purple and is attractive. But an important point is that the pulp is rich in carotenoids, pigments responsible for its orange-purplish color: the darker the pulp color, the higher the concentration of such pigments. The carotenoids are known for their anti-oxidant function in nutrition; therefore, they have a preventive role in cardio-vascular diseases.

In addition to carotenoids, grapefruit, as other citrus produces, is rich in vitamin C, which has some important functions for our body, among which the strengthening of our immune system.

Grapefruits are not as sweet as oranges, they are less acid than lemons and somewhat bitter, but can be eaten fresh, when the benefits of its fibers and high pectin content are used to a person's advantage in fruit juices. It can also be combined with orange juice.
